Quarterly General Meeting
November 1, 2010

March 5, 2011

The 1st Quarterly Meeting of 2011 was held at the Norse Hall.  The “Mardi Gras” dinner was hosted by Marsha LaFarge and Colleen Bennett.  Following a great Jumbalaya and Potluck dinner, the Commodore, Mike LaFarge conducted a short business meeting.  The meeting was well attended with 26 members and 3 guests.  Board members present included Commodore Mike LaFarge, Vice Commodore Bob Kuehl, Past Commodore Dan Cary, Treasurer Linda Norton, and Board members Larry McCarty, Tom Hall and John Dees.

The Treasurer reported a beginning checking account balance of $5,743.04 and an ending balance on March 5, 2011 of $5,863.88.  Income during the 1st quarter mainly consisted of $3,475 in membership dues payments.  Expenditures included $1,081 for liability insurance and $1,138.05 to pay for life rings and improvements to the BBQ for Elochoman Marina.  These donations came from funds collected during the dinghy fundraiser held last summer.

Larry McCarty reported on his progress with plans for Memorial Day.  Tentative arrangements were made with the Elochoman Marina that includes location, tents, tables, moorage, a fire pit, power and water.  CYC invited Astoria Yacht Club to join them on this weekend.  AYC plans to race up river on Saturday the 28th and raft up with CYC on “F” dock.  Larry is in the process of discussions with the new owner of Skyline Golf Course, KulDip Vald, regarding a catered Indian BBQ on Sunday night and a golfing activity.  Larry is still looking for more volunteers to cook breakfast on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Ace Anderson reported the plans he has developed for a cruise to Falcon Cove on the Oregon Coast 28 miles south of the Columbia River bar.  These plans include the possibility of anchoring in Cathlamet Bay.

Chuck Norton spoke about the reciprocals that CYC currently has and how to use these reciprocals when boating or traveling.  He asked for and received suggestions for other clubs to contact regarding reciprocity.

Following the business meeting, Dan and Genie Cary showed a video about the effects of cold water immersion and the importance of wearing a life jacket when on the water.

The evening was concluded with enjoyment of wonderful desserts.

Respectfully submitted,

Linda Norton
