Club T he meeting was called to order at 6:07 P.M. by Commodore Mike LaFarge. Members present: Commodore Mike LaFarge, Vice-Commodore Bob Khehl, Director Larry McCarty, Treasurer Linda Norton, Secretary Pam Emery. Absent board members were Directors John Dees and Tom Hall, Rear Commodore John Vik. Other members present were Past Commodores Chuck Norton and Dan Cary, Gary Emery, Marsha LaFarge, Cruise Chairman John and Sherry Hinshaw. Our guest this evening was Dan Silver.Minutes: The minutes from the July 11th Board meeting were reviewed and approved. Treasurer Report: Acting Treasurer Marsha LaFarge reported a beginning bank balance for July of $5,864.77. Deposits were from a new member application of $125.00 and proceeds from raffle sales $460.00 totaling $585.00 deposited. Expenses included $24.94 for parade candy and reciprocity for $24.00. The ending bank balance was $6,400.83. Treasurer report was approved. Committee Reports: Cruising- Chairmen John and Sherry Hinshaw shared that cruising trips to Wallace and Lois Island have been successful and a lot of fun. Coming up is a cruise to Astoria August 6,7th . Nine boats have signed up to go with special plans underway to enjoy Astoria. Raffle: Chairman Gary Emery reported $831.00 worth of raffle tickets sold so far. In the months of August and September there will be three events to help sell tickets for: Steamboat Races August 12 at the Marina, Downhill Skateboard Races just Sunday August 28 on Main Street if possible, and Buzzard Breath Chili Cook-off over Labor Day at the Marina. Portland Yacht Club may help sell some raffle tickets. Steam Boat Races: Everything is on track as far as Dan and John know. The Steamer’s Association will have all kinds of steam-powered vehicles to show besides the races. We stand ready to help in any way we can. Bob Kuehl’s boat will not be available for the committee boat.New Officers: Commodore Mike LaFarge reminded the board that it is time to start thinking of new officers for next year. Officers so far include Vice-Commodore Bob Kuehl who will step up to be our Commodore, John Vik is slated to be Vice-Commodore, Linda Norton will continue as Treasurer, Gary Emery volunteered to be considered for a Director position. Pam Emery will continue as club Secretary. A review committee was formed consisting of Dan Cary, Pam Emery and Sherry Hinshaw. This committee will find more interested Members who might want to serve on the board and have these names ready by the November meeting for official elections. A By-Laws Committee was formed to look over club By-Laws to see if any changes need to be made or updated. Members of this committee are: Marsha LaFarge, Bob Kuehl, Linda Norton, and possibly John Dees. Changes to the By-Laws need to be made by the November meeting for ratifying by members present. September 17th Dinner Meeting: Chairpersons Marsha LaFarge and Pam Emery suggested that an Italian Dinner theme would be fun for the September 17th meeting with Lazagna as the main dish. Deserts and sides will be provided by the members attending. Sharon Deaton and Sherry Hinshaw have volunteered to help organize this evening dinner.
